What makes a good business card? You want to design a card that will not become filler at the local landfill! Make the card work for you — and remember to anticipate answering questions that the customer may have. Below is a list to help get you started.

Include your Name or Nickname, Title, Affiliations, Professional and Academic Designations.

WHERE

Consider including pronunciation of unusual names, department or division names, your organization’s street address, along with any floor, suite or mail stop number, alternate PO Box address, your zip code +4 designation, and your country (if selling outside of the US).

HOW

Always include your voice phone and extension, toll-free number (if applicable), mobile phone, fax number, email address, and web site address. If your company offers an FTP site for customers, or a special order link , you may wish to include that as well.

WHEN & WHERE

This includes things like your office hours, time zone, appointment fill-in, as well as maps or directions (great for the back of the card!).

WHAT

Includes items such as your business description or mission statement, product/service categories, resource information, special offers, logos, photos, affiliations or sponsorships.
